Board Matters
Simon Harris, Chair, FMS Board
It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of the school year.
The Board has been very actively engaged in working with management to achieve a vibrant and sustainable future for FMS.
The Board pays tribute to Fran and the incredible vision she created and executed for the School over 32 years. Additionally the Board has been thrilled to be working with Denice and Anthony and their approach to future continuance of ‘excellence’ for all our students and families.
The job is by no means done. Denice and Anthony have been charged by the Board with developing a plan to ensure the sustainability of the School though 2018 into the future. The Board has been working with them on changes in administration services, marketing and communications enhancement and how to position ourselves within the Montessori community. Changes in enrolments and class compositions were bedded down this term and will form an important foundation in the 2018 school year. Our interim CEO and Principal has agreed to continue into 2018 and a recruitment process will be conducted shortly to secure appropriate ongoing leadership for the school. Finally, the Board is working with management to ensure an appropriate budget is in place for 2018. Our new Constitution will be ready for member endorsement in early 2018.
At our AGM on the 4th we are focused on stability of the Board working forward into 2018 given our heightened change agenda however will seek to fill the vacancy left by Tim earlier this year.
I do hope you are able to attend the AGM and be part of the important process and engage with the governance of our school. The AGM commences 6:30pm at the school on Monday, 4 December.
The Board, like you are committed to strengthening our rich Montessori environment.
On behalf of my volunteer colleagues on the Board can I wish you the very best for the festive season, a safe and happy new year and we look forward to working with you in 2018.
